"The California College in China Collection consists of about five hundred titles of works in history, literature, and local gazetteers. There are original editions of the Ming and Ch´ing dynasties and the early 19th century. There are also fifty Chinese serial titles in original editions. Eleven boxes of records are in the Special Collections Department including the William B. Pettus papers.

Series 1 contains a collection of 75 letters, postcards and a photograph from George Peck to his girlfriend (and later wife), Mary Ridenour during his time with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) from 1940-1941 stationed in Upland, California and later Metlakatla, Alaska. The correspondence includes letters on several elaborate Alaskan letterheads variously illustrated with maps of the state and pictures of wildlife and illustrations of cabins and people on dogsleds.
